Charny soon crossed paths with Tomcat again when Tomcat had run away from the recruitment camp, dissatisfied with the work he was asked to do. Remembering that Tomcat was in possession of Torr Snapit's lightsaber, Charny assumed Torr had entrusted it to Tomcat, and took him into his unit. Kiel and Tomcat joined the rest of the group just in time to learn that the Sith were charging the battlefield. Rallying his men, Charny led them into battle against the Sith. When the battle was over, after the Jedi had cut down thousands of Sith disciples, Charny and his men surveyed the battlefield. Throughout the battle, Charny and a few other Jedi sensed that something was amiss about the soldiers that they had just fought. Then, they had it. Not one Sith Lord was among those who fought in the battle, the ones who had fallen were nothing but Sith underlings and soldiers, but not one Dark Lord.

Charny even found the stolen lightsaber of Jedi Knight Zor Vlahu among one of the fallen Sith. The thrill of battle had been replaced with dread as the Jedi were left wondering where the Sith were and more importantly, what they were up to. Charny and his men soon got their answer as a Force-storm conjured up by the mutual effort of the Sith Lords made its way through the forests of Ruusan and towards the Jedi destroying everything in its path. Charny and his men were lucky in that they didn't feel the full effect of the Force-storm, for the Sith Lords cut it short in order that they engage the Jedi themselves for an intimate kill. Although Charny's ranks didn't feel the full effect of the storm, it was more than enough to cause the Jedi harm.

When the devastation was over, Charny and his men began the process of regaining consciousness. Charny managed to escape the attack with little more than cuts and bruises, however, some of his men were not so lucky. Finding Jedi Knight Rajan trapped under an uprooted tree, Kiel managed to free him with the help of the youth Tomcat, who had also survived without much harm. Sending for the Jedi healer, Kiel comforted Tomcat who could not understand or accept that the Jedi had been beaten as they had. However, Tomcat and Charny's conversation was cut short by the second phase of the Sith Lord's attack. Appearing in the sky on a swarm of speeder bikes, the Sith Lords moved into an attack pattern on a run to intercept the Jedi that had survived. Their first run claimed the lives of many Jedi, including Jedi Knight Rajan, whom Charny had freed only moments before.

As the Sith Lords made their way around again for a second attack on the battlefield, Charny positioned himself to deflect the blasts from the bikes. However, Charny knew that there was very little chance he could deflect such powerful blasts from the speeder bikes, and that the next strafing run would most like wipe the rest of the Jedi out, but he also knew that he had to try. However, Charny never got the chance to defend himself. Finally Jedi Knight Valenthyne Farfalla appeared in his archaic-designed starship, breaking the Sith Lords ranks of speeder bikes, and sending them on a retreat, off to regroup.
